About The Position

Colorado Springs Urology is opening a new, state-of-the-art Advanced Therapies Center focused on innovative diagnostic and treatment technologies in a patient-centered environment. The Radiation Therapist will be an essential member of the Radiation Oncology team, providing direct patient care and administering prescribed radiation therapy treatments. This PRN (as needed) role offers an opportunity to work with advanced technologies such as IMRT, IGRT, Electron Beam Radiation Therapy, and PSMA PET/CT Imaging in a technologically advanced setting.

Requirements

One (1) year certificate from college or technical school in Radiation Therapy certified by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Certified by American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (AART) and American Society of Radiologic Technologist (ASRT).
BLS certification required.
License and certification as required by state.
At least six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge in healthcare systems operations such as EMR.
Knowledge of database management.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Customer-oriented with ability to remain calm in difficult situations.
Delivers exceptional patient service throughout all interactions.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Skill in using computer programs and applications including Microsoft Office.

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

Accurately and efficiently reviews and/or administers daily prescribed Radiation Therapy treatments to patients assigned to the treatment unit at a speed consistent with patient scheduling.
Observes and adheres to all department policies concerning Radiation Therapy treatment procedures.
Prepares room and equipment for patient by gathering all necessary equipment, supplies, and setup devices.
Sets appropriate treatment unit parameters.
Activates the treatment unit and delivers the prescribed dose of radiation.
Maintains visual and/or audible communication with the patient during treatment.
Obtains appropriate port films on patients when prescribed; makes adjustments in field placement as needed.
Monitors patients for unusual reactions and events throughout the course of Radiation Therapy, and reports same to Clinical Director and Radiation Oncologist.
Keeps immobilization devices in a clean and orderly manner and utilizes the devices as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist.
Maintains current knowledge of therapeutic procedures performed in the Radiation Oncology Department.
Possesses basic knowledge of Radiation Oncology equipment function to provide for minor repair and troubleshooting for problems; water and gas levels, laser alignment, etc.
Proficient in the utilization of all Radiation Oncology equipment in the department including CT(s).
Utilizes appropriate body mechanics in moving/lifting patients and equipment to prevent injury to patients and to self.
Applies safety principles in the performance of position responsibilities.
Records Radiation Oncology charges as procedures are performed.
Keeps records of machine down time and maintains machine fault list report.
Assists her Supervisor in placing and scheduling service calls.
Ensures proper hand off of responsibilities once their task is completed.
Ensuring that all medical records are accurate and complete within the system for all patients.
Performs other position related duties as assigned.
Complies with Solaris Health Code of Conduct and all Solaris Health and Affiliated Practice policies and procedures.
Maintains the confidentiality of patients' protected health information in compliance with HIPAA.
Immediately reporting any suspected concerns and/or violations to a supervisor and/or the Compliance Department.
Timely completion of the Annual Compliance Training.
