About The Position

City of Hope is seeking a per diem Radiation Oncology Nurse for its outpatient clinic in Corona. The nurse will be part of the ambulatory radiation oncology team, supporting providers and delivering care to patients undergoing active treatment. The role involves assessing and managing up to 30 patients on active radiation therapy plans, educating patients, monitoring and managing treatment-related side effects, and performing daily toxicity assessments. The nurse will also triage patient phone calls, coordinate care, and float to the infusion area as needed.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in nursing.
Three to five years of related experience.
Current California Registered Nurse license.
Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
Excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual.
Two years of radiation oncology experience.
Two years of experience working in a physician’s office or hospital.
ONS or OCN certification.

Responsibilities

Support providers with consultations and follow-up visits.
Educate patients and answer clinical questions about their care plans.
Start IVs for contrast CT simulations and coordinate chemotherapy.
Triage patient concerns related to radiation therapy, side effects, and wound care.
Perform daily toxicity assessments and monitor and manage treatment-related side effects.
Coordinate PEG tube placement and dental clearance for head and neck patients.
Assist with radiation oncology care planning for patients with cardiac devices.
Help patients and caregivers navigate barriers to timely care, liaising with other service lines such as financial counselors, social services, and transportation.
Maintain high-level awareness of payer authorization questions that may affect patient care.
Support patients and caregivers in quality-of-life goals and survivorship.
Float to the infusion area as needed.
