About The Position

This position works under general supervision of a physician to provide nursing care to adult and pediatric populations, with oversight to both inpatient and outpatient clients. The role involves multitasking to deliver excellent patient care while facilitating efficient throughput across the clinic and procedural areas. Responsibilities include planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care. Specific duties may include assessing and managing side effects of radiation, patient education, care coordination, telephone triage, providing moderate sedation, initiating IVs and assessments for contrast administration, cardiac monitoring, pre/intra/post-operative care for pediatric anesthesia cases, assisting with research activities, managing inpatient populations transferred for treatments, and supporting nursing practice across the continuum of care. The RN will collaborate daily with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, clinical assistants, and radiation therapists. Duties may involve direct patient care, human-subjects research, managing patient records, or managing human-subjects research records. This position is security-sensitive and subject to criminal history record information checks.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree - Associate Nursing Degree
  • 1 year in critical care (ie. ICU, ED, PACU, Procedural areas) or 2 years in an inpatient unit
  • Current Texas RN license Upon Hire
  • BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS) Course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) Upon Hire
  • ADVANCED CARDIAC LIFE SUPPORT (ACLS) Course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) within 90 Days
  • PEDS ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT (PALS) Course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) within 90 Days

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree BSN
  • Previous Hematology/Oncology or Radiation Oncology Nursing experience
  • Oncology Nursing Certificate Upon Hire

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care to adult and pediatric populations, with oversight to both inpatient and outpatient clients.

  • Supports nursing practice across the continuum of care to the needs of patients and their families.

  • Directly interacts with or caring for patients.
  • Directly interacts with or caring for human-subjects research participants.
  • Regularly maintains, modifies, releases or similarly affects patient records (including patient financial records).

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
