About The Position

Sky Lakes Medical Center is seeking a compassionate, skilled Radiation Oncologist to lead its radiation oncology service at Sky Lakes Cancer Treatment Center, a turnkey practice serving Klamath County and surrounding communities. The physician will practice as the sole Radiation Oncologist, working directly with an experienced oncology Advanced Practice Provider and a dedicated interdisciplinary team, with clinical autonomy and influence over workflows, service-line growth, and strategic planning. The outpatient-focused practice offers a structured schedule of four clinical days and one on-site administrative day. Clinic hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with midday departure on Fridays as scheduling permits. Clinical weekends and holidays are not required. Physicians designate eight call days per month, including one weekend; an external RN triage service screens calls around the clock, with approximately five physician calls per month. Hospitalists manage all inpatient admissions and rounding. The team includes an experienced dual-discipline APP (radiation oncology and medical oncology), a Medical Physicist, Certified Medical Dosimetrist, four Radiation Therapists, a CT/Sim Tech, a dedicated Radiation Oncology RN Navigator, and a Certified Medical Assistant. The broader center includes rotating Medical Oncologists, permanent NPs, six patient navigators, a social worker, a cancer registrar, and scheduling and authorization teams. Four established Radiation Oncologists provide PTO coverage, peer consultation, and remote Tumor Board collaboration. The practice supports 60-minute new consultations and 30-minute follow-ups. Typical monthly volumes average approximately 22 new consultations, 75 office visits, 60 on-treatment visits, and 21–25 simulations. Equipment and treatment capabilities include an Elekta Infinity Linac, Philips Big Bore CT Simulator, IMRT, IGRT, SBRT, and LDRT for malignant and benign conditions. Therapies and procedures include Pluvicto, Xofigo, ultrasound-guided SpaceOAR hydrogel placement, and oropharyngeal scopes. Care is delivered in a close-knit, multidisciplinary environment, with weekly radiation oncology chart rounds, weekly joint care conferences with Medical Oncology, and monthly multidisciplinary Tumor Boards. Supportive-care resources include oncology navigation, patient support groups, nutrition education, complimentary wigs, and certified mastectomy fittings. The physician will serve as an important oncology resource for the local community. Sky Lakes Medical Center is an independent, community-owned teaching hospital and not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization. It is ISO 9001-certified, recognized as a Top 100 Rural & Community Hospital, and received the 2026 AHA Foster G. McGaw Prize for Excellence in Community Service. The center serves a 10,000-square-mile catchment area. The position offers a guaranteed annual base salary of $550,000 and a $100,000 sign-on bonus. The employer offers medical, dental, and vision coverage for the physician and dependents, employer retirement contributions, paid time off, relocation assistance, continuing medical education funding and paid educational leave, and support for J-1 and H-1B visa holders. Full-time physicians may qualify for federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness.
