About The Position

Leidos Defense Sensor is seeking a talented, self-motivated, experienced various level of Radar Systems Engineers to join a diverse team in Huntsville, AL that provides analysis, modeling & simulation, and testing support for complex Missile Defense Agency (MDA) radar systems. We have offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields providing responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions. Join a group of highly technical engineers and analysts supporting the development of a real-time radar simulation product that is used for performing warfighter training and certifications, integrated missile defense exercises, and system level testing assisting development of tactical command and control algorithms. The applicant should be a self-starter, individual contributor and able to collaborate closely with systems engineers and software engineers and testers. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Radar Engineering, or a related STEM discipline plus 8-15 years of experience in radar design, modeling & simulation, and/or analysis or Masters degree in STEM disciplines and a minimum of 6 – 15 years of experience in radar design, modeling & simulation, and/or analysis.
  • Familiarity with compiled software languages such as C/C++.
  • Competence in a broad array of radar topics such as detection theory, tracking, waveform scheduling, and object classification.
  • Strong analysis skills, including analysis experience using MATLAB or Python.
  • Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Possess and be able to maintain an active SECRET clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in modeling & simulation of radar systems.
  • Experience writing radar algorithm description documents.
  • Proven experience working with radar systems, simulations, and electronic warfare, preferably within the defense sector.

Responsibilities

  • Perform radar systems analysis.
  • Deep dive customer noted issues through root cause identification and resolution.
  • Simplify tactical radar algorithms to representative effects that can function in real-time.
  • Document results for technical briefings to end-users and project leadership.
  • Development of a significant amount of analysis tools through MATLAB / Python to develop algorithms to provide to software engineers and to ensure they are working according to design.
