About The Position

Leidos Defense Systems is seeking a Radar Engineer to develop solutions for complex sensor and radar problems. The role supports advanced technology radar programs involving radar signal processors, tracking algorithms, advanced sensors in electronic warfare environments, radar-system simulation, field testing of radio-frequency sensors and systems, and deployment of advanced sensor systems. The engineer will work with other engineers to review existing algorithms for performance and processing-latency improvements and investigate algorithms from technical literature for potential application across radar programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, from an ABET-accredited school; candidates with a strong demonstration of the listed skills will also be considered.
  • Two to four years of prior relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree, or less than two years of prior relevant experience with a master’s degree.
  • Experience in radar algorithm development and/or radar analysis.
  • Experience or willingness to lead a team of engineers on radar algorithm problems, peer-review algorithms, oversee tasking, and perform other team-lead activities.
  • Teamwork skills and fundamentals in digital signal processing, tracker algorithms, MATLAB, and radar simulation and modeling.
  • Must reside in the North Alabama area or be willing to relocate to the Huntsville–North Alabama area.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and possess and maintain a Final Secret Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with radar simulation and a strong background in statistics and probability.
  • Electromagnetics.
  • Modern C++ development.
  • Familiarity with Linux.

Responsibilities

  • Support development of radar signal processors and radar tracking algorithms.
  • Support advanced sensor work in electronic warfare environments.
  • Simulate radar systems.
  • Field-test RF sensors and systems.
  • Support deployment of advanced sensor systems.
  • Review existing algorithms to identify improvements in performance and processing latency.
  • Investigate algorithms from literature and assess whether they can improve radar programs.
  • Potentially lead engineers solving radar algorithm problems, peer-review algorithms, oversee tasking, and perform other team-lead activities.
