About The Position

This position performs basic diagnostic x-rays under the supervision of a radiology technologist. The associate will identify and assist patients with questions about procedures, prepare patients for exams, and ensure patient safety in the absence of the radiology technologist. They will also obtain necessary medications, radiopharmaceuticals, or contrast media materials as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner, authorized/certified technologist, or registered nurse. The role involves assisting physicians and technologists in diagnostic exams based on assigned modality and career pursuits, including procedures requiring contrast media administration. Responsibilities also include retrieving patient orders and requisitions, supporting administrative tasks in the RIS, EMR, or other standard applications, assisting patients with personal care needs, and supporting administrative duties, quality assurance, safety, regulatory, and compliance requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED with preliminary coursework toward a certificate or degree in a medical imaging field.
  • Clinical experience based on the educational program affiliated with the pursuit of career in medical imaging
  • BLS required.

Nice To Haves

  • Medical clerical skills preferred.
  • Senior/rising senior Radiography student preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies and assists patients with questions about procedures.
  • Prepares patients for exam and ensures patient safety in the absence of the radiology technologist.
  • Obtains medications, radiopharmaeceuticals, or contrast media materials as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner, authorized/certified technologist or registered nurse.
  • Assists physicians and technologists in the performance of diagnostic exams based on assigned modality and career pursuits (Rad/Fluro, CT, IR, Mammography, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, PET, Ultrasound) to include procedures requiring the administration of contrast media.
  • Retrieves patient orders and requisitions while supporting administrative or miscellaneous work tasks in the RIS, EMR, or other standard applications required in the workflow for diagnostic exams.
  • Assists patients to restrooms, with bedpans, urinals and other ancillary clinical support needs as required.
  • Assists with administrative duties, quality assurance, safety, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
