About The Position

This is a PRN position for a Rad Tech Associate in CT at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center. The role involves performing basic diagnostic x-rays under supervision, assisting patients, preparing them for exams, and ensuring their safety. The associate will also obtain necessary medications or contrast media, assist physicians and technologists with diagnostic exams, retrieve patient orders, and support administrative tasks. Additionally, the role includes assisting patients with personal care needs and supporting administrative duties, quality assurance, safety, regulatory, and compliance requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED with preliminary coursework toward a certificate or degree in a medical imaging field.
  • Clinical experience based on the educational program affiliated with the pursuit of career in medical imaging.
  • BLS required.

Nice To Haves

  • Senior/rising senior Radiography student preferred.
  • Medical clerical skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic diagnostic x-rays supervised by a radiology technologist.
  • Identifies and assists patients with questions about procedures.
  • Prepares patients for exam and ensures patient safety in the absence of the radiology technologist.
  • Obtains medications, radiopharmaeceuticals, or contrast media materials as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner, authorized/certified technologist or registered nurse.
  • Assists physicians and technologists in the performance of diagnostic exams based on assigned modality and career pursuits (Rad/Fluro, CT, IR, Mammography, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, PET, Ultrasound) to include procedures requiring the administration of contrast media.
  • Retrieves patient orders and requisitions while supporting administrative or miscellaneous work tasks in the RIS, EMR, or other standard applications required in the workflow for diagnostic exams.
  • Assists patients to restrooms, with bedpans, urinals and other ancillary clinical support needs as required.
  • Assists with administrative duties, quality assurance, safety, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
