The Radiology Technologist Assistant is responsible for transporting and/or escorting patients to and from diagnostic testing areas. They assist technologists with patient positioning, prepping patients, and documenting information within the EMR. The role also involves greeting visitors/patients and facilitating their needs and facility needs. The assistant will manage electronic images, review and print images, and may enter data and retrieve office files. They may also prep patients by gaining appropriate IV access for the administration of saline and/or contrast, call physician offices, and notify technologists/radiologists/physicians of stat orders and changes. Additional duties include receiving and screening incoming calls, routing calls, taking messages, assisting physicians with retrieving report information from the dictation system, and assisting with new employee orientation. The assistant is also responsible for maintaining cleanliness and neatness of equipment, patient areas, and work areas, ordering and stocking supplies and linens, assisting with office supply inventory, and troubleshooting equipment problems. Compliance with infection control, radiation safety, OSHA standards, and safe operation of all assigned equipment is required.
