About The Position

Welch Equipment Company is seeking a Rack Installer to assemble off-the-lift-platform storage shelving, rack shelving, structural shelving, and steel shelving systems. The role involves installing warehouse and retail storage systems, including drive-in, cantilever, and tear-drop pallet racking. Employees receive support through manufacturer training, technical support, field service supervisors, on-the-job training in a controlled environment, technology, and supportive leaders.

Requirements

• Capable of using hand tools, cordless power tools, and mechanical assembly tools while handling materials and fasteners.
• Familiarity with concepts and standards of mechanical practices and procedures for shelving assembly.
• Ability to safely bend, lift, kneel, sit, and stand frequently.

Responsibilities

• Assemble various shelving systems.
• Bolt aligned steel members into position for permanent fastening, bolting, or welding.
• Connect columns, beams, and girders with bolts according to blueprints and supervisor instructions.
• Drive drift pins through rivet holes to align holes in structural-steel members with those in previously placed members.
• Erect metal and precast shelving components, including warehouse racking, retail storage systems, and drive-in, cantilever, and tear-drop pallet racking.
• Hoist and position steel members using hands, lift trucks, and hand tools.
• Pull, push, or pry structural-steel members into approximate positions for bolting.
• Wear required personal protective equipment: hard hat, steel-toe boots, work gloves, safety vest, and safety goggles.
• Verify accuracy and quality in accordance with established standards when required.
