About The Position

This role involves the assembly and integration of server and network hardware within a data center environment. The assembler will be responsible for installing components, verifying connections and status lights, and ensuring all hardware is correctly cabled and labeled according to specifications. The position also includes tasks related to the preparation, assembly, scanning, and packing of servers and their accessories, while maintaining a safe and organized work environment. The role requires adherence to production and quality documentation, and the ability to support production operations as needed, including overtime when required.

Requirements

  • High school or college diploma.
  • Electronic or computer industry assembly experience.
  • Must be able to read and understand assembly instructions, production orders, and all other documentation used to control processes.
  • Know how to handle hand tools and light power tools.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Solid communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Able to input data into a computer and work with a computer screen for long periods of time.
  • Ability to perform tasks including standing, walking, sitting, talking, listening, bending, squatting, reaching with hands and arms.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 40 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Soldering experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Proven ability to communicate quality concerns with peers and supervisors.
  • Must be able to successfully identify the basic purpose of server & rack components.
  • Good understanding of racking/stacking/cabling servers, network, storage devices, and other tech products in a Data Center.

Responsibilities

  • Rack integration, including installing rails and inserting servers into racked solutions.
  • Verification of status lights on servers, devices, and network equipment (switches, modems, servers, routers).
  • Verification of power connections on servers and network devices.
  • Installation and verification of cables, cable connections, and network devices.
  • Applying labels on cables and cabling racks per CCD.
  • Preparing work by studying assembly instructions (MPI), blueprint specifications, and parts lists; verifying and gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
  • Unpacking chassis from boxes and preparing them for production.
  • Assembling components by examining connections for correct fit and fastening parts and subassemblies.
  • Scanning component serial numbers into the manufacturing shop floor system for tracking purposes.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Documenting actions by completing production and quality forms.
  • Preparing accessories, labeling, and inspecting all servers from the production line before packing by BOM.
  • Packing servers from the production floor.
  • Maintaining an ESD safe working environment.
  • Accepting overtime work as per company demand and following instructions from the Floor Supervisor for job requirements.
  • Assisting with audits and inventory counts on the production floor.
  • Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Following 5S standards to keep the working area clean and organized.
  • Supporting production operations as needed.
