About The Position

POSITION OBJECTIVES: Constructs, maintains, and tests mechanical equipment, machinery, and components. Identifies parts for replacement and machines that need new parts and places orders as necessary. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals to perform a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. Supports the Engineering and Design Group. Typically reports to R&D Tech IV or Engineering Manager. · Use specialized equipment such as tape measure, band saw, oxygen/acetylene cutting torches, hand grinders, drill press, shot blasters, steam cleaner etc. · Perform basic metalworking duties such as measuring, cutting, grinding, drilling and deburring parts. · Operate forklift to unload and handle raw materials. · Maintain test standards and equipment in accordance with ISO procedures. · Assemble components using basic hand tools. · Read and follow blueprints and work instructions. · Welding together parts from raw materials using blueprints · Perform a wide range of shop duties to support the Engineering Group.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required; graduate of a technical/vocational training program is preferred. Industry Certification Preferred.
  • Two years minimum of related R&D Technician experience. Welding experience a plus.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Must be able to read and understand various service manuals, electrical diagrams, and troubleshooting guides
