About The Position

AkzoNobel is seeking an R&D Specialist to join the Product Support and Analytical team for the Coil and Extrusion Coatings group in North America. This role supports R&D, production, sales, marketing, and technical service through weathering and quality studies, as well as analytical lab work. The position involves contributing to programs through standard testing of coatings, data entry, sample preparation, and reporting results. The R&D Specialist will be responsible for the organization and maintenance of the Quality snapshot program, working independently on a weekly work plan under clear instructions. The role requires communicating technical information clearly in both written and oral formats, drawing conclusions from data, and maintaining detailed records. A key aspect of the role is to seek and understand coatings fundamentals, with a focus on performance and durability within the metal coatings industry.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Physics or related Scientific field of study and 4 years of experience in Materials and Analytical Testing, technical report writing, and statistical analysis.
Demonstrated experience with maintaining documentation associated with materials testing and analytical lab work.
Demonstrated experience with creating, supporting, and distributing reports with conclusions drawn from data analysis.
Demonstrated experience with maintaining quality documentation for regulatory compliance.
Demonstrated experience with utilization of statistical methods to analyze laboratory data (including Minitab, Excel, or similar statistical software).
Demonstrated experience with performing lab work including testing and failure analysis.
Demonstrated experience with preparing written and oral communication of technical information.
