R&D Software Engineer VMKernel

Broadcom•San Diego, CA
•$121,900 - $195,000

About The Position

At VMware by Broadcom, the VMKernel Core team designs, implements, and guides the architecture of the VMKernel, the operating system kernel for ESXi. ESXi is the core of VMware Cloud Foundation’s virtualization technology, built to run virtual machines and containers and used by large corporations for its capabilities, performance, and quality. As an engineer on the core team, you will learn the tools and processes needed to become a successful VMKernel engineer and contribute to the design and development of operating-system techniques and algorithms for managing virtual and physical computer hardware. The work includes kernel locking techniques, filesystems, kernel APIs for device drivers and user programs, and OS security and patching infrastructure. You will collaborate with engineering teams to deliver products based on the VCF virtualization platform, with opportunities to own core infrastructure and lead larger project areas as you gain experience.
