R&D Senior Technical Specialist
About The Position
This position reports to the Director of Research & Development. The work model for the role is Onsite. The role plays a key part in technology and product development initiatives that shape the next generation of electric motor products. It drives specialized prototype development projects from concept through completion, ensuring quality and timeline targets are met. The role leverages deep knowledge of manufacturing processes to bridge design intent with production feasibility, identifying opportunities to improve cost, efficiency, and scalability. Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 8 years of experience with electric motors
- Work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US

Responsibilities
- Apply advanced motor design principles to create electrical designs for industrial motors that meet ABB specifications and industry standards.
- Demonstrate continuous learning and mastery of ABB engineering tools and problem-solving methodologies.
- Define and execute prototype development strategies, including equipment and tooling requirements.
- Plan prototyping timelines and accelerate technology readiness.
- Partner effectively with other R&D and cross-functional teams to resolve design challenges, authorize material substitutions, and drive application-focused solutions.
- Serve as a key technical resource, solving design and application challenges, supporting cross-functional problem-solving, and actively contributing to design teams.
