About The Position

The R&D Machinist operates and sets up 4-axis CNC milling machines to produce high-precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications. The role also produces machine parts by programming, assembling, and operating CNC or manual machines—including lathes, mills, and grinders—and other specialized equipment. The machinist interprets blueprints, work orders, engineering plans, specifications, reference planes, design sketches, and GD&T requirements to determine operations, materials, and dimensions; measures materials and selects suitable machines; performs setups and adjustments; and maintains records and quality and safety standards. Other duties include purchasing and shipping tasks, supporting laboratory testing and analysis as needed, following EHS and Quality standards, and performing other assigned work, including extended shifts or overtime when required by the business. This is an onsite role with Collins Aerospace’s Advanced Structures team, which develops complex aircraft interior and exterior solutions using advanced materials and additive manufacturing. U.S. citizenship is required because only U.S. citizens may access information under the program or contract. The posting states that the role requires the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance, while also listing clearance type and status as not required.
