About The Position

Work with the R&D department to develop and fabricate new test equipment and maintain current equipment. Maintain the control system utilized to track equipment status, provide notification as to maintenance and calibration requirements, and arrange for necessary calibration and servicing of equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma; general education degree (GED); a minimum for 12 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of computer-assisted design software, such as AutoCAD, and electronic schematics / PCB design software, such as DipTrace.
  • Ability to read electronic schematics and PCB drawings.
  • Soldering skills, including though-hole and SMD soldering.
  • Mechanical skills, including machining (drilling, milling, etc.), mechanical and electrical assembly.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret service manuals and schematics.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and write reports.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees, managers, and customers.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, see trends, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to deal with abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to prioritize duties and responsibilities.
  • Able to give and take direction and complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively to a wide variety of people in person and on the telephone.
  • Must have basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop test hardware to be used for aligning or testing functionality of electronic products as per manufacturer’s requirements.
  • Maintain and repair current equipment, wiring harnesses, cables and connectors used for service and testing of electronic equipment.
  • Fabricate new hardware, including machining, PCB population, wiring, and final assembly.
  • Maintain the service equipment database. This includes labeling, assignment, service and calibration of equipment.
  • Review equipment regularly for equipment due for service or calibration.
  • Coordinate calibration schedules with General Manager and Functional Manager.
  • Coordinates calibration and service of test equipment, both in-house and outside labs.
  • Comply with United Radio's policies and procedures, and quality systems.
  • Perform related duties as requested.
