About The Position

As our R&D Engineering Intern, you will step onto the leading edge of aerospace technology. You will work closely with our senior R&D engineers to conceptualize, prototype, and test next-generation solenoids, valves, and actuators. Examples include supporting R&D engineering in qualification testing, support test procedures and report creation, drafting, tooling design, and work with the Test Systems engineering department with various tasks. This is a highly hands-on role where you will apply your academic engineering knowledge to solve open-ended, real-world problems. The intent of this position is to evaluate an individual for a potential Associate Design Engineer I position upon graduation.

Requirements

• Must be able to pass a comprehensive criminal background check and drug screening.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum (due to ITAR requirements).
• Reside in Washington County or Iron County, Utah
• Currently enrolled as a Junior, Senior, or Graduate student pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Hands-on experience with 3D CAD modeling software (SolidWorks preferred) and the ability to interpret technical drawings.
• Strong foundational understanding of mechanical design, fluid mechanics, materials, or electromagnetics.
• Eagerness to work hand-on in a lab environment with physical tools and measurement equipment.
• Outstanding curiosity, problem-solving skills, and a proactive attitude.
• You must possess strong communication skills to document your findings and present them clearly to the engineering team.
• Able to work full-time during summer, with potential to continue internship part-time during school year.

Responsibilities

• Build and acceptance test RAM products, including in RAM’s cleanroom.
• Assist with qualification testing, including vibration, shock, thermal cycling, etc.
• Assist with drafting and test documentation writing, including redline changes.
• Become familiar with the standard engineering methods and tools used to develop new designs.
• Participate in trouble shooting and diagnostic activities for non-performing product.
• Other duties as assigned.
