Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Optical Engineering, Physics or Mechanical Engineering with an optomechanical focus
0 to 3 years of relevant engineering experience, including academic projects or internships
Fundamental understanding of geometrical optics, illumination and introductory lens design
Exposure to optical simulation tools and hands on laboratory experience
Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills

Responsibilities

Supporting the design and analysis of optical components and subsystems including lenses, illumination systems, imaging systems and fiber optics
Performing optical modeling, simulation and tolerance analysis using industry standard tools
Assisting with laboratory setup, optical alignment and characterization of prototypes
Conducting optical performance testing and analyzing results to support design decisions
Collaborating with mechanical, electrical and systems engineers to integrate optical elements into complete medical device systems
Participating in design reviews, risk assessments and verification and validation activities
Supporting documentation and quality activities in line with FDA, ISO 13485 and internal quality processes
