This role is for an early-career Application Engineer to join our R&D Applications and Master Data team. In this role, you will serve as a Product Owner for one or more engineering applications that support product development across our global R&D organization. You will partner with engineers, IT teams, and external vendors to improve and maintain the tools that enable design, simulation, and product lifecycle processes. This is a great opportunity to build experience at the intersection of engineering, technology, and product management. You will report to the Engineering Applications Manager and be part of a team driving modern, integrated engineering systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in: Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Or a related field
  • 0–2 years of experience (internships or co-op experience encouraged)
  • Strong interest in engineering systems, applications, and technology
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking
  • Clear communication with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to organize work and manage multiple priorities
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn new tools and technologies
  • Collaborative mindset and team-oriented approach

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to engineering tools such as: Computer-aided design (CAD) i.e. Unigraphics, Pro-E, Solid Works
  • Simulation tools i.e. ANSYS, LS-DYNA
  • Product lifecycle management (PLM) systems – i.e. Windchill
  • Experience working on team projects or cross-functional efforts
  • Basic understanding of product development or engineering workflows

Responsibilities

  • Own and Improve Engineering Applications: Act as the product owner for one or more engineering tools (such as design, simulation, or lifecycle management systems). Maintain and prioritize a backlog of enhancements, fixes, and user needs. Help deliver system updates and improvements that add value to engineering teams.
  • Work Closely with Engineering Teams: Partner with R&D engineers to understand workflows, challenges, and opportunities. Gather and document requirements in a clear and structured way. Translate user needs into actionable development tasks.
  • Support Day-to-Day Operations: Provide support for engineering applications and resolve user issues. Work with IT and vendors to troubleshoot and maintain system performance. Monitor system usage and identify ways to improve reliability and user experience.
  • Collaborate Across Functions: Partner with IT, data, and business stakeholders to support system updates and integrations. Help ensure engineering applications work effectively with other enterprise systems. Contribute to maintaining clean, consistent data across systems.
  • Follow Quality and Compliance Standards: Support documentation and validation activities for system changes. Follow processes required in regulated environments (for example, design documentation and traceability).
