About The Position

The Research and Development Technician will be part of the Engineering Department and will report to the Engineering Manager. This role involves assisting in the new product development of high speed fabric, sectional, and rolling steel doors, working with the engineering group to enhance product function, reliability, and serviceability. The technician will compile and interpret data to maintain product specifications, fabricate and install prototype components, and conduct testing of doors and components. A key responsibility includes being the primary resource for preparing and conducting static and dynamic windload tests, including the maintenance of test equipment. The role also requires acting on Engineering Change Requests as needed.

Requirements

• Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel)
• Background in research and development or testing
• Analytical problem solver
• Ability to operate a variety of tools and equipment
• Able to work with minimal supervision and accomplish goals in a timely manner
• Effective communicator
• Ability to troubleshoot and correct issues
• Ability to work in a group environment
• AS in Engineering and an engineering discipline or 3 years of relevant experience

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of architectural testing and international building codes a plus
• Experience with 2d and 3d CAD; Pro-Engineer/CREO a plus
