About The Position

The Quotation Specialist – Distribution & Gear is responsible for preparing accurate, timely pricing for distribution and gear products by reviewing specifications, coordinating with suppliers and sales teams, ensuring compliance with standards, and supporting customers through technical and commercial quote development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Technology, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in electrical distribution, gear quotations, estimating, or related role.
  • 5-7 years' experience in electrical distribution, gear quotations, estimating, or related role in lieu of a degree.
  • Strong math, analytical, and detail orientation.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with commercial/industrial switchgear and distribution equipment (e.g., panelboards, switchboards, transformers, busway).
  • Experience with Epicor Eclipse/ job management, Eaton Bid Manager quoting tool.
  • Ability to read construction drawings and electrical one-line diagrams and interpret specs.
  • Understanding of short-circuit coordination, selective coordination, and arc flash considerations at a quoting level.

Responsibilities

  • Review request for quotes (RFQ), one-lines, risers, panel schedules, and specifications to prepare itemized, configurable bill of materials (BOMs) for gear and distribution packages.
  • Create base bids, value engineering (VE) options, and approved equals; document clarifications, exclusions, alternates, and lead-time assumptions.
  • Price freight, startup, commissioning, and services as applicable.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications (e.g., NEC, UL listings, short-circuit ratings, SCCR, seismic requirements, NEMA enclosures).
  • Solicit and negotiate vendor quotes and pricing multipliers, evaluate lead times, substitutions, and warranty terms.
  • Manage multiple deadlines; prioritize quotes by bid date and customer urgency.
  • Partner with internal teams including: Customer Experience Specialists, Outside Sales, Projects, and Customer Assembly, to align scope, pricing strategy, and handoff for orders won.
  • Partner with external teams including: vendor partners and manufacturing representatives.
  • Prepare and deliver professional quote packages; support post-bid reviews and scope reconciliation.
  • Maintain quoting records, revision control, and version history through enterprise system.
  • Stay current on product changes, NEC updates, and market conditions affecting pricing and availability.
