Santa Clara University operates on a quarter system, with each quarter (fall, winter, and spring) being 10 weeks long, followed by an extra week for final examinations. Graduate classes are typically scheduled during the early morning or evening hours, while undergraduate classes are held throughout the day, Monday through Friday. QLs have the opportunity to teach up to 4-course equivalencies (CEs) per academic year, with a maximum of 2 CEs in any single quarter. Additionally, QLs can teach an extra 2 CEs during the summer terms. The value of course equivalencies is generally defined as: UNDERGRADUATE: 4 unit lecture = 1 CE, 1 unit lab = 0.5 CE, 1 unit lab with a teaching assistant (TA) = 0.25 CE. GRADUATE: 4 unit lecture = 1 CE, 2 unit lecture = 0.66 CE.
