About The Position

The BlackRock Investment Institute (BII) produces proprietary research on the global economy, markets, geopolitics, and asset allocation to guide clients and portfolio managers. BSI Intel (BlackRock Sustainable Investing Intelligence) is a proprietary company-level sustainable scoring framework within SIRA (Sustainable Investment Research and Analytics) at BII, powering $135bn AUM. The role involves contributing to the BSI Intel research team, focusing on active systematic research, delivering investment performance for BSI Intel strategies, and business growth.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of proven experience in the Quantitative Investment space.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Matlab, or similar.
  • Detailed knowledge of data science and statistical techniques, portfolio optimization, financial economics, and risk models.
  • Attention to detail, curiosity, and self-motivation.
  • Highly organized with the ability to work towards tight deadlines.
  • Good communication skills: ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to colleagues and clients and ability to present at quantitative conferences.
  • Collaborative team player, willing to engage with other colleagues, share ideas, and give/receive constructive feedback.

Nice To Haves

  • SQL and Unix experience are a plus but not necessary.
  • PhD or equivalent (Post-doc) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop innovative investment ideas using quantitative analysis to capture long-run rewarded sustainable insights, potentially involving review of existing data, testing new datasets, leveraging AI/data science/ML methodologies, and back-testing strategies.
  • Construct and maintain quantitative investment strategies, including oversight of portfolio rebalancing.
  • Deliver high-quality signal research with a focus on long-only global equities and the usage of novel datasets.
  • Collaborate with research colleagues across the firm on investment ideas.
  • Collaborate with portfolio managers on efficient execution of ideas.
  • Collaborate with investment strategists on innovative investment products.
  • Collaborate with wider BlackRock platforms to deliver innovative systematic sustainable solutions.
