The purpose of the role is to provide quantitative and analytical expertise to support trading strategies, risk management, and decision-making within the investment banking domain. This involves applying quantitative analysis, mathematical modelling, and technology to optimize trading and investment opportunities. The role focuses on Risk and Margin methodologies within the Prime Risk team, which sets and monitors client margin and risk. Responsibilities include the maintenance and development of margin methodologies for a range of financial products and models/analytics to monitor existing client exposures. The Vice President will contribute to or set strategy, drive requirements, and make recommendations for change. They will plan resources, budgets, and policies; manage and maintain policies/processes; deliver continuous improvements; and escalate breaches of policies/procedures. If managing a team, they define jobs and responsibilities, plan for the department’s future needs and operations, counsel employees on performance, and contribute to employee pay decisions/changes. They may also lead specialists to influence department operations, aligning with strategic and tactical priorities, balancing short and long-term goals, and ensuring budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements. For an individual contributor, they will be a subject matter expert, guiding technical direction, leading collaborative assignments, and guiding team members. They will identify the need for other specializations, train, guide, and coach less experienced specialists, and provide information affecting long-term profits, organizational risks, and strategic decisions. They will advise key stakeholders on functional and cross-functional areas of impact and alignment, manage and mitigate risks, demonstrate leadership in managing risk and strengthening controls, and possess a comprehensive understanding of the organization's functions to contribute to business goals. Collaboration with other areas is expected to stay updated on business activity and strategies. Solutions will be created based on sophisticated analytical thought, comparing and selecting complex alternatives. In-depth analysis with interpretative thinking will be required to define problems and develop innovative solutions, incorporating extensive research. Building and maintaining trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders is key, using influencing and negotiating skills.
