About The Position

This position is located in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Quality Weld Inspector will be responsible for reading and interpreting drawings, weld procedure specifications (WPS), and welding symbols. The role requires a basic understanding of weld discontinuities and acceptance criteria, as well as the ability to use basic weld inspection tools. The inspector will perform full inspections of weldments and sub-weldments, document inspection results including VT reports and weld maps, and comprehend the introduction to First Article Inspection (FAIs). This role involves communicating welding nonconformances to relevant personnel, maintaining material certifications and inspection documentation, labeling nonconforming parts, and using calibrated measuring equipment where applicable. Following all safety procedures and working in a fast-paced environment are essential. Good verbal and written communication skills are also required.

Requirements

  • Must be a US citizen.
  • GED/High School Diploma/Technical Degree
  • 6+ Years welding inspection experience - required
  • 3+ Years of dimensional inspection experience - required
  • AWS CWI or ASNT VT Level II – required
  • Ability to be certified to ASNT VT Level II in-house within 30 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 Years welding - preferred

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret basic drawings, weld procedure specifications (WPS), and welding symbols
  • Identify weld discontinuities
  • Understand basic weld acceptance criteria
  • Use basic weld inspection tools: fillet gauge, V-WAC gauge, combination square, protractor, caliper, tape measure, flashlight, mirror, magnifying glass, temperature crayon
  • Answer welding-related questions or know where to direct questions
  • Fully inspect weldments and sub-weldments
  • Document results of inspections, including VT reports and weld maps
  • Comprehend the introduction to First Article Inspection (FAIs)
  • Communicate welding nonconformances to Welding Supervisor, Welding Trainer, Welder Development Coordinator, Lead Weld Inspector
  • Maintain material certifications and inspection documentation
  • Label nonconforming parts
  • Use calibrated measuring equipment where applicable
  • Follow all safety procedures
  • Work in a fast-paced environment
  • Utilize good verbal and written communication skills
