About The Position

The Quality Technician performs specified tests on manufactured products to ensure conformance to specifications using known formulations. The Technician provides production support by verifying quality from start-up to run completion. If nonconformances are detected, promptly inform the production and Quality Supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Solid work history with a minimum of 1-2 years of relevant work experience needed with lab or manufacturing preferred.
  • Basic Math including Algebra.
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office, including intermediate Excel skills (arrange/format data, create and format charts, etc.).
  • Able to walk several miles a day and be on your feet several for hours during each shift to perform duties.
  • Flexibility: You will be assigned a regular schedule but, as needed, will need to modify work hours.

Nice To Haves

  • College degree (Associate’s or Bachelor’s) preferred.
  • 5S, Lean, or Green Belt Training are a plus.
  • Career Development or other certifications are a plus.
  • Some work experience leading others preferred.
  • Additional computer skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform specified tests on manufactured products to ensure conformance to specifications using known formulations.
  • Provide production support by verifying quality from start-up to run completion.
  • Promptly inform the production and Quality Supervisor if nonconformities are detected.
  • Operate equipment wearing proper protective equipment.
  • Complete safety training punctually.
  • Report unsafe working conditions and equipment problems.
  • Follow all plant safety protocols.
  • Operate and understand all required quality testing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot machine problems or operation errors that affect quality.
  • Improve job performance by keeping relevant knowledge and skills current.
  • Attend plant and department meetings unless excused by the Quality Manager.
  • Promote harmonious worker relations.
  • Convey quality problems in a timely fashion to the supervisor.
  • Contribute to the success of the department and plant by helping others.
  • Keep work area clean and organized.
  • Communicate product status.
  • Participate in Gage R&R, Kaizen, 5S, Lean events, and work with supervisor to eliminate barriers.
  • Communicate orally and in writing in a professional manner that is clear, fluent, concise, and readily understood by the intended recipient(s).
  • Update quality testing results, record labor, and send shift updates daily.
  • Seek all relevant information for problem-solving and decision-making; consult widely, probe the facts, analyze issues from different perspectives.
  • Make rational, realistic, sound decisions after considering all available facts and alternatives; hold self and staff responsible for individual choices, actions, and impact.
  • Break problem into constituent parts and differentiate critical elements from the irrelevant or trivial; make proper use of logic and draw sound inferences from information available.
