About The Position

Quartus Engineering is seeking a Quality Technician to join our San Diego team. This is a hands-on quality role supporting inspection, calibration, nonconformance management, and supplier quality activities across a variety of defense, aerospace, and prototype engineering programs. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically grounded, and comfortable working in various industries and project types.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent (Associate's degree in a technical field a plus)
  • 4+ years of Inspector experience
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001, AS9100 or equivalent certified environment
  • Understanding of tooling for inspections such as gauge pins, calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, and power meters
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Experience with performing first article inspections (FAI)
  • Ability to stand continuously as well as bend, squat, and lift frequently
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Must be a US Person (U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident)

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with First Article Inspection (FAI) and AS9102 requirements
  • Experience building in a clean room environment, preferably lasers/optics, and related equipment
  • Experience handling ESD-sensitive components
  • CMM operation experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform part inspections and generate corresponding inspection reports, spanning supplier documentation review, drawing-based dimensional inspections, and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T callouts, and technical specifications to verify conformance to requirements.
  • Assist engineers in the testing and inspection of optical, mechanical, and electrical components and assemblies.
  • Initiate, manage, and track Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) through disposition and correction.
  • Identify and communicate continuous improvement opportunities observed during production and inspection activities.
  • Report quality issues and anomalies to engineers and project managers in a timely and clear manner.
  • Assist in the collection, scheduling, labeling and tracking of calibrated items for internal and external calibration services.
  • Assist in the issuance of Supplier Notices or Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) as needed.
  • Participate in internal audits in support of the company's ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality management system.
  • Assist in maintaining organization of the cleanroom and shop floor.
  • Assist with hardware builds as needed.
