About The Position

The primary purpose of the Quality Technician role is to ensure the quality of products through daily line audits, meeting or exceeding standards set by MSI Express, the customer, and federal and state compliance. This role involves core requirements for checking process and finished product specifications, approving batches to run, and monitoring that these checks are performed. The position has responsibility for Food Safety and Quality within their influence and requires the associate to report Food Safety and Quality problems in a timely manner to personnel with authority to initiate action. The role also involves following all company policies, including general manufacturing and safety practices, coaching production associates on line data collections, and performing other duties as instructed by management. Requirements

  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to follow work procedures and safety rules.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, stoop, reach, stretch, step, climb and/or sit frequently or through the duration of the shift.
  • Appropriate eye, hand and foot coordination to properly use various equipment and/or tools.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Pass all company testing.
  • Ability to follow written directions.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to read and write effectively.
  • Ability to process quality documentation accurately and within a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Approve/correct batches using basic lab skills, math/formulas, and testing equipment.
  • Perform lab checks according to Quality SOPs.
  • Perform pre-ops and Preventive Control (PC) checks.
  • Notify appropriate personnel of noncompliance issues per SOP.
  • Perform all required analytical tests per given procedures (e.g., VC, Salt, Brix, PH, DS meter, TA, Vit C, batch vs. control comparison, sensory audits).
  • Perform all required physical tests of raw material and finished product to meet customer procedures.
  • Perform special audits for raw materials or product on hold.
  • Coach production associates on line data collections.
  • Follow all company policies, including general manufacturing and safety practices.
