About The Position

C.H. Thompson is seeking a skilled Quality Control Technician to join and strengthen our Quality Department. This role involves approximately 75% hands-on production floor work and 25% computer-based/desk work. The position collaborates closely with production, inspection, and management teams to ensure compliance with customer specifications, drive corrective actions, and improve process control. Responsibilities include hands-on inspection and troubleshooting, documentation (CARC logs, FAIs), customer communication, and technical quality support. C.H. Requirements

  • Experience with first article inspection, spec interpretation/compliance, and former QC background preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications
  • Experience using measurement and inspection tools (calipers, gauges, etc.)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work hands-on in production areas
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Complete CARC Logs, FAI documentation, and related quality records
  • Lead and/or support corrective action processes, including issue identification, root cause analysis, and implementation tracking
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with customer and internal requirements
  • Cross-check job requirements, specifications, and internal processes to ensure full compliance
  • Perform first piece, in-process, and final inspections of parts and materials
  • Assist with first-piece masking verification and set up validation
  • Use measurement tools (calipers, gauges, micrometers, rulers, etc.) to verify conformance
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and customer specifications
  • Identify non-conformances, investigate root causes, and drive corrective actions through completion
  • Troubleshoot coating, masking, and finishing issues in collaboration with production teams
  • Communicate inspection findings and quality concerns with production teams in real time
  • Provide clarification on masking requirements and specification interpretation
  • Support customer communication regarding quality concerns, technical requirements, and compliance questions
  • Assist with testing and evaluation of coating or paint-related issues
  • Support development and refinement of quality procedures and controls
  • Help identify opportunities for improvement in inspection methods and production processes
  • Jump in to assist inspectors and production staff during high workload or bottlenecks
  • Collaborate closely with management on daily priorities and workload balancing
