About The Position

FM Industries is a premier manufacturing solutions provider specializing in build to print, precision machined components, anodizing, and engineered thermal spray coatings. This position is responsible for performing various functions associated with quality control and quality assurance operations, including visual and dimensional inspections as defined by Standard Operating Procedures. This role is crucial for the preparation of customer first article reports, cost of quality, and related quality operations metrics. The technician will utilize sophisticated programs to collect and evaluate data for assessing and documenting quality assurance and control processes, such as SPC, GR&R, and POR. They will also collect, synthesize, and publish key quality operational metrics like COPQ, QPPM, RMA, DMR, and NC. Additionally, the role may involve assisting Quality or Manufacturing Engineering in developing quality assurance and control methods and procedures, and conducting process assessments with engineers and subject matter experts.

Requirements

  • 2- or 4-year degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years in a Quality Control or Quality Assurance related role, preferably in a manufacturing-related industry.
  • Basic knowledge of GD&T.
  • Basic knowledge to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge and use of precision testing equipment and tools (caliper, micrometer, pin gage, profilometer).
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Ability to communicate clearly at various levels of the organization, with suppliers and customers.
  • Teamwork orientation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ERP systems (Epicor, Vantage, Oracle, SAP).

Responsibilities

  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections as defined by Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Prepare, publish, and submit Customer First Article Reports.
  • Complete regular Quality Operation Metric Reports for management review.
  • Complete AQL sampling or 100% inspection and maintain complete and accurate inspection reports.
  • Utilize various measuring equipment to measure and collect data to determine component acceptance.
  • Generate Nonconformance or Discrepant Material Reports to record and control all nonconforming material.
  • Assist Quality or Manufacturing Engineering in developing methods and procedures for quality assurance and control.
  • Conduct process assessments with engineers and subject matter experts.
