About The Position

We are looking for a talented Quality Technician- Level II to join our team specializing in Quality for our Cummins Inc. facility in Rocky Mount, NC. In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: Support Engineers: By assisting in production-related and inspection jobs, you ensure smooth operations and help maintain high-quality standards. Quality Monitoring: Your role in monitoring material quality and making necessary adjustments ensures that the final products meet the required specifications. Documentation and Records: Maintaining accurate documentation and records helps in tracking progress, ensuring compliance, and facilitating audits. Defect Identification: Comparing physical characteristics of components and products to technical specifications allows you to identify and address defects early in the process. Testing and Reporting: Conducting simple tests and preparing technical reports provides valuable data for decision-making and continuous improvement. Measurement Equipment: Your expertise in using and programming measurement equipment ensures precise and reliable product testing. Customer Assistance: Assisting customers in understanding product specifications and measurement data helps build trust and ensures proper product application. Equipment Maintenance: Ensuring the proper maintenance and calibration of measurement and test equipment guarantees consistent and accurate results.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.
  • Requires some work experience and intermediate level knowledge obtained through training or on-the-job experience.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of quality systems and metrology.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to support continuous improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
  • Operating and calibrating measurement equipment (including CMM).

Responsibilities

  • Support Engineers by assisting in production-related and inspection jobs.
  • Monitor material quality and make necessary adjustments to ensure products meet specifications.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records for tracking progress, compliance, and audits.
  • Identify and address defects by comparing physical characteristics of components and products to technical specifications.
  • Conduct simple tests and prepare technical reports for decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Use and program measurement equipment for precise and reliable product testing.
  • Assist customers in understanding product specifications and measurement data.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of measurement and test equipment.
  • Build strong relationships with customers and deliver solutions that meet their needs.
  • Make timely and well-informed decisions.
  • Apply quality tools and methods to ensure product and process quality.
  • Determine the root cause of failures by engaging with customers.
  • Ensure customers receive analysis reports and SCAR responses promptly.
  • Collaborate with the Supplier Quality team to address supplier-related issues.
  • Monitor and report Material Non-Conformances (MNCs) and Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) to reduce PPM defects.
  • Perform checks on assembly lines to ensure failsafe mechanisms are effective.
  • Contain defects on completed products both on-site and at customer locations.
