In this role, you will support manufacturing operations through quality assurance activities. You will solve interesting problems and improve processes while collaborating with multiple disciplines across SEL. This role requires a strong technical background and the ability to work independently. This position is available in our Lake Zurich, IL location. Requirements

  • An applicable 2-year technical degree, technical certification, or equivalent work experience in an engineering or science related field.
  • 1+ year of experience in electronics, materials quality, or manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of inspection techniques and measuring instruments.
  • The ability to monitor and maintain calibration of tools and test equipment.
  • The ability to maintain high standards for inspection and documentation.
  • The ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and acceptability requirements.
  • Experience with common computer and manufacturing applications.
  • Effective written, documentation, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • A 2-year STEM degree.
  • Experience with quality tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and product flow.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal, printed wiring boards, adhesives, and plastic components.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and SEL Engineering Requirements.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001.

Responsibilities

  • Providing technical support to internal/external customers and clarifying product or material quality requirements.
  • Inspecting material or products according to technical requirements and quality standards, utilizing measurement and inspection equipment.
  • Conducting material testing in alignment with industry standards and under the guidance of an experienced technician or engineer/scientist.
  • Troubleshooting and characterizing electrical and mechanical components under the guidance of an experienced technician or engineer/scientist.
  • Assisting with troubleshooting and diagnosing production issues including material defects, test failures, assembly defects, and process issues.
  • Identifying, containing, or evaluating nonconforming materials, parts, or products.
  • Researching and learning new subjects which might aid in troubleshooting efforts.
  • Participating in cross-functional teams to address quality issues.
  • Communicating quality results with stakeholders.
