About The Position

The Quality Technician I will assist Quality Engineers as an analytical interface between Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality on design for manufacturing and production issues and will establish and document critical features for assigned product line(s). This position works with various internal teams as well as external customers to complete collaborative goals. The Quality Technician I also interfaces, under supervision, with military and defense customers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, preferably an associates ort bachelor’s degree in a technical field, and 0-2 years of experience.
  • Working toward achieving PPI Certification.
  • Ability to learn drawing and print reading, basic Quality concepts, and mechanical design document interpretation.
  • Computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office Suite and training on fundamental data analysis techniques. Familiarity with Oracle EBS is also a plus.
  • Should have fundamental technical and mechanical aptitude with basic optical, electrical, and mechanical test instruments and techniques, as well as strong aptitude with hand tools and small power tools.
  • Previous training on US Military Standards.
  • May travel to locations as needed. May travel with a Government Representative. Will travel with a level II or III Quality Technician.
  • Must be able to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information to others, both verbally and in written form.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, suppliers, management, and fellow employees.
  • Must have strong time management skills.
  • Communicate effectively to supervision regarding problems and corrective action.

Responsibilities

  • Assist as interface on customer issues emanating from company sales channels including commercial, law enforcement and military, and international and customer support for assigned contracts. Analyze failures and assist in the development of corrective and preventive actions to respond to customer complaints in a timely manner.
  • Use inspection instructions and communicate any required changes.
  • Assist Quality Management and Quality Engineers in establishing, implementing, and maintaining the quality management system.
  • Interface with Engineering and Operations to ensure New Product Introductions are in accordance with approved data and testing, including appropriate records.
  • Assist in maintaining product line specific quality records and submit them to customers as required by contract.
  • Conduct measurements using basic inspection tools and perform functional and visual inspections of SIG SAUER products.
  • Use analytical thinking and work closely with inspectors and engineers for data collection and analysis, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis, always maintaining appropriate levels of workplace organization and safety.
  • Learn to perform acceptance testing, document all actions per contract specifications.
  • Partner with Quality Technician II’s and III’s, learning the government contract process.
  • Participate in and sustain 5S Standards.
  • Must follow all required Safety and ISO procedures.
  • Regular on-site attendance and punctuality is a necessary function of this position.
  • May be required to work in other functional areas and/or facilities depending on business needs.
  • May be required to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
