About The Position

As a Quality Engineering Technician at L3Harris, you will be responsible for supporting the JROC focus factory teams by ensuring that products and processes meet the standards we set for ourselves and our customers. Success in this role will involve conducting inspections, tracking defects through root-cause and corrective action, and assisting in developing and implementing a variety of components for our quality control systems. Your day to day will involve collaborating with quality engineers in developing inspection requirements and techniques as well as implementing quality plans. Assists in evaluating defect data to identify trends and collaborates with quality engineers to make recommendations on process improvements. Routinely interfaces with customer representatives, production operators, and factory support personnel.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 6 years prior quality experience, 2 year post-secondary/AA Degree and 2 years prior quality experience

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting findings and collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to train others on quality control processes and procedures
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or other quality management systems is a plus
  • Knowledge of quality control standards and methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing).
  • Proficiency with measurement and inspection tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, optical comparators).
  • Understanding of statistical data analysis techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Support Quality initiatives including yield improvements, quality escape investigations, RCCA determinations
  • Support/initiate containment activities for FF quality events, help sort and provide disposition of contained material
  • Investigate mixed stock and/or wrong parts issued from the Stockroom and work with Material Quality as needed
  • Verification of parts against engineering drawings and specification sheets
  • Create inspection plans and notes; update existing procedures and control plans.
  • Perform end-of-line inspections as needed, recording findings and reporting back to Operations and Quality personnel
  • Run defect reports and perform data analysis to find trends in product failures, providing suggestions as to where to investigate further.
  • Support teamwork and collaboration efforts within the Quality Team.
  • Review and report inspection/performance data; make recommendations for solutions and use knowledge/experience to resolve issues.
  • Communicate within and outside the department to obtain/provide information, clarify requirements, and drive agreement on quality findings
  • Traversing across the production floor for the duration of their shift (up to 12 hours)
