About The Position

The Quality Supervisor is responsible for executing the day-to-day quality operations across a 2-shift manufacturing environment, including flat sheet lithography and 3-piece can-making. The Quality Supervisor is responsible for executing defined quality control activities to ensure products manufactured conform to specified requirements. This role supports the organization’s Quality Management System (QMS) by performing inspections, monitoring processes, maintaining documented information, and reporting nonconformities in accordance with ISO 9001, customer requirements, and regulatory obligations. This role ensures that product quality standards are consistently met through enforcement of inspection processes, and rapid response to in-process issues. The Quality Supervisor serves in driving adherence to standards while supporting problem identification and containment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or associate degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 1–2 years of leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications, inspection standards, and production documentation
  • Working knowledge of inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, seam scopes).
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in metal can manufacturing or high-speed packaging environments.

  • Knowledge of can seam inspection and metal packaging standards.
  • Experience in writing SOPs, control plans, and work instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform in-process, final, and verification inspections in accordance with documented procedures, control plans, and work instructions.
  • Verify conformity of product characteristics including dimensions, seams, coatings, and functional performance as applicable.
  • Ensure quality checks are completed at defined frequencies and recorded accurately.
  • Support first-article and changeover verification to ensure process readiness.
  • Conduct monitoring and measurement activities using calibrated inspection and test equipment.
  • Maintain awareness of process capability and trends through SPC or other defined monitoring tools.
  • Identify deviations from specifications and escalate issues per escalation and containment procedures.
  • Identify, segregate, and label nonconforming product to prevent unintended use or release.
  • Document nonconformities in accordance with QMS requirements.
  • Support root cause analysis, corrective actions, and verification of effectiveness as assigned.
  • Accurately complete and maintain inspection records, test results, SPC charts, and quality logs.
  • Ensure records are legible, traceable, and retained per document control requirements.
  • Follow current approved versions of procedures, specifications, and customer standards.
  • Support internal, customer, and third-party audits by providing objective evidence of compliance.
  • Participate in audit preparation activities and follow-up actions as assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, customer, and food safety requirements (where applicable).
  • Identify opportunities for improvement related to product quality and process effectiveness.
  • Communicate quality risks, trends, and recurring issues to Quality and Production leadership.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and cross-functional problem-solving activities.
  • Maintain competency through training and adherence to defined quality and safety procedures.
  • Follow all safety, PPE, and housekeeping requirements.
  • Promote quality and food safety awareness throughout daily activities.
