About The Position

The Quality Supervisor is responsible for leading the day-to-day activities of the Quality Department to ensure products meet customers, company, and regulatory requirements. This position provides leadership to Quality Technicians and Inspectors, promotes a culture of quality and continuous improvement, and supports manufacturing operations by ensuring compliance with IATF 16949, customer-specific requirements, and internal quality standards. The Quality Supervisor works closely with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to reduce defects, improve processes, and maintain customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise, coach, mentor, and develop Quality Technicians and Inspectors while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Understanding of automotive quality systems and Core Tools, including IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, Control Plans, and Layered Process Audits (LPAs).
  • Understanding of root cause analysis and implementing effective corrective and preventive actions using methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, and other structured problem-solving techniques.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, customer specifications, and technical documents, including advanced understanding of GD&T.
  • Hands-on experience with precision measuring equipment, inspection methods, calibration practices, and nonconforming material control.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate quality metrics, identify trends, and drive process improvements to reduce defects, scrap, rework, and customer complaints.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality inspection techniques, and customer-specific requirements within an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with quality management systems, ERP software, Microsoft Office Suite, and quality reporting tools to analyze data and communicate performance metrics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, customers, suppliers, and senior leadership.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities, make sound decisions, and lead effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills with the ability to maintain quality records, support audits, and ensure compliance with regulatory, customer, and company standards.
  • Thorough understanding of workplace safety practices, PPE requirements, and regulatory compliance, with a demonstrated commitment to promoting a safe and quality-focused work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Experience supporting casting, forging, machining, finishing, or other metal manufacturing processes is highly desirable.
  • Internal Auditor certification, ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Technician (CQT), or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and develop Quality Technicians, Inspectors, and other quality personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO standards, customer-specific requirements, and company procedures.
  • Monitor daily quality performance and respond to production quality concerns.
  • Lead containment activities for nonconforming material and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Review inspection results and verify product conformity before shipment.
  • Investigate customer complaints, internal quality issues, and supplier quality concerns using structured problem-solving methods.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, etc.).
  • Analyze quality metrics including PPM, scrap, rework, first-pass yield, customer complaints, and audit findings.
  • Support APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, and Process Flow development.
  • Conduct Layered Process Audits (LPAs), product audits, and process audits.
  • Ensure calibration and control of inspection equipment.
  • Coordinate training and qualification of quality personnel.
  • Support new product launches and engineering changes.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that reduce waste and improve product quality.
  • Participate in customer visits, audits, and quality reviews.
  • Assist with supplier quality issues and incoming inspection activities as needed.
  • Maintain accurate quality records and documentation.
  • Promote and enforce all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Supervise daily activities of Quality personnel.
  • Schedule work assignments and ensure adequate department coverage.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop employees.
  • Conduct performance evaluations.
  • Address attendance and performance concerns.
  • Foster teamwork and accountability within the department.
