About The Position

This role is responsible for coordinating and enabling the site Asset & Technology Leader in the overall loss prevention of plant equipment and process technology, site facilities & buildings to support the delivery of SQCDSM metrics. The Quality Specialist ensures uninterrupted service by maintaining 100% compliance with local legal regulations, Quality, Health Safety & Environment management systems and standards. The role involves executing Building Maintenance, Facilities Maintenance, Capex management & OPEX (M&R) budgets, site Technology & Automation maintenance, Asset & Master data management, and ensuring adherence to Service provider/OEM contracts & SLA agreements, Manufacturing standards, Governance, and Compliance requirements. It also includes implementing Integrated Lean 6 Sigma (IL6S) ways of working, focusing on zero breakdowns through preventive/predictive maintenance strategies, technical mastery, Progressive Maintenance (PM) Pillar, condition-based monitoring (CBM), visual controls, tools management, loss elimination, lubrication management, and equipment calibration. The role requires modeling values and principles through coaching and building the capability of operating teams via training on routine maintenance, equipment breakdown, and CIL techniques. Additionally, it involves interfacing with key internal and external stakeholders to build relationships and align priorities to achieve company objectives.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge (including AM-Autonomous Maintenance Step 4 systems & Progressive Maintenance Step 3) & skill to maintain the dedicated equipment(s) at basic conditions independently, including the execution of AM & PM (BD-Breakdown maintenance, planned maintenance) standards on dedicated equipment(s) and TPM - Phase 3 & 4 tools problem solving tools.
  • The capability to lead a Role for the Line.
  • Qualify and coach the next level work process owners and drive the common opportunity areas across the line in PDCA-Plan Do Check Adjust approach.
  • Computer proficiency (MS Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint) & experience in ERP systems.
  • Excellent communication skills (Verbal and Written), Analytical & Problem solving skills, strong collaboration and relationship management skills.
  • Strong computer skills (Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams) including Windows software and plant informational systems (SAP, SharePoint).
  • Exposure to electronic systems to monitor quality parameters i.e., Quality Suite.
  • Strong understanding of plant Quality Programs, including HACCP, Metal Detection, Calibration, CoA’s, Specifications, documentation control.
  • The successful candidate must be a responsible and reliable self-starter who is capable of working effectively with little supervision.
  • Team player with a positive attitude, working well with others.
  • Strong communication skills coupled with the ability to read and write English proficiently.
  • Demonstrated interest and concern for quality and keen observation skills and a keen desire to learn.
  • Must be a strong performer who demonstrates reliability, an excellent attendance record, excellent teamwork and strong self-directed, individual and group work ethic.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-Secondary diploma related to Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and/or Food Safety is required, Engineering and Food Science is preferred.
  • Engineering courses are preferred.
  • 2 years minimum work experience in a Quality Control/Quality Assurance environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate the execution of Building Maintenance program, Facilities maintenance program, Capex management & OPEX (M&R) budgets, site Technology & Automation maintenance, Asset & Master data management, Service providers/ OEM-original equipment mfg. contracts & SLA-site level agreement adherence, adherence to Manufacturing standards, Governance, Compliance requirements are adhered to.
  • Implement IL6S-Integrated Lean 6 sigma ways of working: delivering zero breakdowns via preventive/predictive maintenance strategies and technical mastery of maintenance and operation teams; PM (Progressive Maintenance) Pillar, and CBM (condition based monitoring), Visual controls & tools Mgmt., Loss elimination, Lubrication mgmt. & Calibration of equipment(s) etc.
  • Role model Values and principles through effective coaching, and building capability of Operating teams via specific training on routine maintenance, equipment breakdown and CIL techniques
  • Interface with key stakeholders internally & externally to develop and maintain effective relationships, align priorities in order to deliver the company objectives, and goals.
  • Execute HACCP, Regulatory and Pre-Requisite Programs by conducting CCP metal checks, allergen inspections, flour/sugar tailing checks and reviewing previous shift verification.
  • Lead shift Product Quality Review meeting with Line Leads reviewing product for defects and iQS data for trends.
  • Manage quality incidents on their shift by placing necessary product on hold, conducting the root cause analysis, writing the incident report and following up to ensure actions are completed.
  • Train operators on metal detector verification, net content verification, allergen controls and good manufacturing practices.
  • Trouble shoot day to day Quality related incidents, equipment and systems.
  • Communicate to the line team's top consumer complaint drivers and lead actions to reduce.
  • Investigate out of spec Critical to Quality parameters and monitor CPM weekly.
  • Manage Raw Material through receiving, CoA verification, spec exceptions, Quality Notifications, Kosher and HACCP.
  • Perform Finished Good Testing.
