About The Position

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will ensure products and processes meet defined quality standards through testing, inspection, and documentation. This role supports the quality management system by implementing quality control procedures, collecting data, and participating in continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.
  • Experience with nonconformance documentation and corrective action processes.
  • Hands-on experience with dimensional inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, height gages, bore gages).
  • Working knowledge of [AS9100 / ISO 9001] quality management system requirements.
  • Strong written communication and attention to detail in technical documentation.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, hardware-driven environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Aerospace, defense, or other regulated high-reliability manufacturing experience.
  • Certified Quality Inspector/Technician/Engineer (ASQ CQI, CQT, CQE) or certified internal auditor.
  • Military aircraft maintenance or Quality Assurance background (e.g., aircraft QA representative, crew chief, structures/hydraulics/electrical inspector, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with standard aerospace installation practices — safety wire, torque striping, cotter/retention hardware, fluid fitting installation (AN/MS/dynamic-beam seal), harness routing and strain relief, and clearance/chafe criteria.)
  • Experience with CMM programming/operation, or NDT/NDE methods [specify: PT, MT, RT, UT].
  • Familiarity with special processes and NADCAP-accredited suppliers (welding, heat treat, chem processing, coatings).
  • Experience with statistical process control, capability studies (Cp/Cpk), and Lean/Six Sigma methods
  • Proficiency with [QMS / MES / ERP system, e.g., Windchill, SAP, Teamcenter, or internal tools].
  • Experience supporting flight hardware acceptance or [customer/agency] source inspection.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality inspections, tests, and evaluations on materials, components, and finished products
  • Author, review, and disposition nonconformance records; support Material Review Board (MRB) activity and track corrective actions to closure.
  • Lead or support root cause and corrective action investigations using structured methods (5-Why, fishbone, 8D, fault tree).
  • Prepare and review First Article Inspection Reports [per AS9102 or applicable standard].
  • Document quality results and maintain accurate records in quality management systems
  • Assist with internal quality audits and preparation for external audits
  • Monitor and report on quality metrics and key performance indicators
  • Collaborate with production teams to address and resolve quality issues
  • Provide quality guidance and training to production teams on requirements, workmanship standards, and documentation practices.
  • Review and buy off manufacturing/assembly documentation, travelers, and as-built records for completeness and traceability.
