The world relies on HPS to continually conceive and produce state-of-the-art transformer technology. We currently have an opening for a Quality Specialist, come grow with us! Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Specialist is responsible for supporting the Quality Manager in tasks associated with Guelph product and process quality as well as the Business Management System. Responsibilities will also include providing support to production to improve efficiency and minimize waste.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of related experience
  • Completed diploma from a 2 year Quality or Engineering technician Program (or higher)
  • Knowledge of PFMEA – Process Failure Mode Effects and Analysis
  • Good troubleshooting and communication skills
  • Ability to read Engineering drawings
  • Ability to work effectively with Production, suppliers, customers and regulatory agencies
  • Self starter attitude with the ability to work through complex issues and follow-up
  • Organization and prioritization skills
  • Familiarity with manufacturing and design processes
  • Microsoft Office knowledge

Nice To Haves

  • ISO 9001:2015 auditor training is preferred
  • Root Cause Analysis training is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead in the investigation of in-house failures alongside the Manufacturing Engineering group through tear down and reporting of root cause by assembling a cross-functional team to problem solve issues.
  • Participate in working groups or implementation teams for Transform and Continuous Improvement initiatives as required by the continuous improvement coordinator. Tasks could include data collection, technical reports and studies and other tasks as required.
  • Update Manufacturing checklists and customer requested documentation as necessary.
  • Review and maintain process monitoring records including turns test data, core cutting measurements and scrap logs, varnish and viscosity data, oven records etc.
  • Ensure accurate records are kept and issue quality alerts.
  • Maintain and issue various monthly defect reports such as DPMO (defects per million opportunities) and FPY (first pass yield).
  • Support and help maintain the BMS about quality documents such as CAR’s, procedure and work instruction updates.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis and issue corrective action responses when required for internal/external issues including Field Problem reports and Returned Goods
  • Responsible for generating customer requested Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
  • Update the Process Failure Mode Effects and Analysis (PFMEA) as necessary.
  • Lead the correction of identified action item lists including OFI (opportunities for improvement), external audit results -CARs and OFIs.
  • Performs internal audits and create audit reports.
  • Provide training and materials that support manufacturing processes and the Core Competency program and other internal training.
