About The Position

The Quality Specialist is responsible to ensure the product and process meet agreed contractual requirements, by implementing, maintaining and monitoring quality plans for manufacturing of sand castings for the aerospace industry. Activities include process planning and validation, inspection and test methodology, control of nonconforming material, issue resolution and product acceptance.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in aerospace manufacturing process/production floor support, in a Quality Engineering, Quality Technician or similar function.
  • Knowledge or experience with AS9100 Quality System and/or Nadcap certified processes.
  • Experience facilitating and performing effective root cause corrective actions, using 8D or similar methodology.
  • Knowledge or experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings, and applying Geometric Dimension and Tolerance (GD&T)
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in casting processes is highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with internal and external customers to verify all technical requirements and oversee the sand casting manufacturing processes.
  • Perform contract review by interpreting engineering drawings and related technical documents.
  • Work directly with external Customer’s requirements and programs - Product/Process approval and verification, measure and monitor process capability, participate in process improvement initiatives, and other program and part number specific requirements.
  • Evaluate Customer claims, perform defect analysis and work with the different functions to facilitate Root Cause and Corrective Action using 8D methodology.
  • Drive continuous process improvement to increase yield, and reduce costs of poor-quality (including scrap and rework).
  • Participate in the development of failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) and associated control plans.
  • Provide training to shop floor personnel and support functions as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Magellan Aerospace Glendale Management.
