The QA Specialist is responsible for monitoring quality and production procedures throughout the facility to ensure quality, food safety, employee safety, and GMP standards are met.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years Quality Assurance experience and/or 3-5 years of food manufacturing experience.
  • Working knowledge of computer programs (i.e., Excel, Word, SAP, etc.)
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and provide solutions.
  • Ability to obtain HACCP certification.
  • Strong math and analytical skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently with good time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in manufacturing environment which includes but not limited to: noise, changing temperatures (hot, wet, cold, humid), standing/walking/bending/stooping/climbing stairs, maneuvering around manufacturing equipment consistently throughout the shift.
  • Physical lifting up to 40-lbs unassisted frequently throughout the shift.
  • Working with chemicals, wearing personal protective equipment, and following approved chemical handling procedures

Responsibilities

  • Assists with implementing, monitoring, verification, and validation of production standard operating procedures & controlled documents.
  • Interacts with personnel at all levels to communicate quality issues. Assists production personnel by providing instructions, direction and guidance as needed to ensure quality and food safety standards are met.
  • Provides support and back up to QA Manager and Supervisor in audits including corporate, customer, GFSI, and State and Federal regulators during inspections, product sampling, etc.
  • Assists with conducting new-hire Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) training and other food safety and quality trainings as needed.
  • Assists with maintaining the HOLD and positive release programs within all departments.
  • Provides follow up on special projects related to quality.
  • Assists with Quality Assurance documents and program review within the plant.
  • Drive the facilities Environmental Monitoring Program with direction provided by QA Manager and Supervisor.
  • Assists with monitoring and maintaining the FSMA, and HACCP programs.
  • Interacts with and assists production personnel with quality issues. Provides instructions and guidance to production personnel as needed to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Assists with data entry and performs monthly trending related to Plant QA daily, monthly and yearly KPI targets.
  • Serve as initial point of contact for QA laboratory needs and direction.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
