About The Position

At Bank of America, the Quality Specialist II tests and delivers complex software to accomplish business outcomes. The role establishes testing scope, coordinates test execution, and oversees testing practices to ensure software meets functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements. It includes conditioning and generating test data; building and executing manual and automated test suites; recording and communicating results; triaging defects; and maintaining well-designed regression suites. The position supports regression testing and automation through Java development and scripting. The specialist enhances and optimizes a custom Java-based automation framework built on Selenium, HTTP protocol, and SoapUI; owns and runs regression tests manually and through automation; documents best practices; mentors team members; and develops functional test plans. The role is based at the Seattle, Washington office, with Bank of America describing an in-office culture and role-specific flexibility based on business needs. The schedule is first shift, 40 hours per week.

Requirements

At least 5 years of QA and test automation experience supporting large-scale, high-volume enterprise applications.
Strong Java programming skills, including hands-on experience developing, maintaining, and debugging automation frameworks.
Expertise in UI automation using Selenium and/or Playwright.
Strong experience with REST API automation using Java and YAML configurations, and working knowledge of SOAP/SoapUI.
At least 3 years of experience with SQL and backend/database testing, including Oracle and Cassandra.
Strong knowledge of the end-to-end QA lifecycle, including test planning, automation, execution, defect management, and reporting.
Experience with Octane, Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Maven, and Jenkins.
Strong understanding of Agile and Waterfall methodologies and experience driving QA process improvements, including risk-based testing.
Exposure to Copilot or AI-assisted development tools for automation and productivity.
Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

Domain knowledge of Consumer & Retail Banking or Wealth Management.
Experience with mobile application testing.
Familiarity with Authentication and Identity technologies.
Proficiency with Splunk for troubleshooting, log analysis, and issue investigation.
Understanding of test data management and data validation practices.
Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD environments.

Responsibilities

Develop detailed, comprehensive, well-structured test cases based on functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements.
Lead test planning, usually at a team level, and ensure Scrum stories are refined and include clear acceptance criteria.
Lead test case reviews and work with subject matter experts and stakeholders to ensure test coverage.
Identify automation opportunities and develop test automation for applicable test types.
Execute manual and automated test cases and record results.
Design test data and ensure data compliance requirements are met in all test environments.
Use testing tools and follow processes to complete testing in a given test environment, including steps needed to promote code to higher-level environments.
Support regression testing and automation activities through Java development and scripting routines.
Enhance and optimize the custom Java-based automation framework built on Selenium, HTTP protocol, and SoapUI.
Own regression tests and execute them using automation or manually as needed.
Document best practices, mentor team members, and develop functional test plans.
Triage defects and communicate test results.
Support ongoing team delivery efforts.
