About The Position

The Clinical Quality Performance Education Specialist is dedicated to clinical end-user onboarding with the development, implementation, and education of training materials impacting the electronic medical record, clinical workflows, and functionality. Primary responsibilities include collaborating with FHMG leadership, IT analysts, clinicians, and end-users in support of system upgrades, data collection needs, and quality measure program requirements. The Clinical Quality Performance Education Specialist performs clinical staff assessments and validates quality measure data to identify trends and areas for improvement/re-education to support EHR optimization and ensure maximum financial reimbursement for Frederick Health Medical Group. Supports the Mission of Frederick Health and complies with the Standards of Behavior.

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team-based environment
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office: including Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel; experience with Clinical Systems, Meditech, is highly desirable
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Must have a strong ability to analyze and interpret types of data
  • Must demonstrate ability to manage time, deadlines, multiple requests and priorities, maintain productivity and exercise good judgment with minimal supervision
  • Associate’s degree in healthcare related field preferred
  • Three to five years of experience in medical practice, hospital, or clinic setting.
  • Certified/Licensed MA, CNA, LPN or higher preferred
  • Electronic Healthcare education and classroom training experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Dedicated to the education of clinical staff EHR training materials for system changes, upgrades, and all system workflow modifications for all FHMG ambulatory practices
  • Support project teams in development of electronic documentation solutions supporting workflows in practices and align with the current best practice standards
  • Acts as support staff systems liaison to ensure process changes and development of future workflows are appropriate and increase efficiency
  • Develops and maintains system’s standard workflow
  • Develop and maintain quick tips for EHR standard work documentation
  • Assist with establishing clinical quality measure performance and compliance benchmarks
  • Acts as the Ambulatory Electronic Medical Record point of contact for FHMG in collaboration with Ambulatory IT Analysts
  • Collaborates with hospital leadership, physicians, clinicians, PI, Quality, end users, vendors and associates to support the development and deployment of electronic applications or new functionality
  • Continuously identifies needs & opportunities for clinical and operational improvement
  • Creates a culture of teamwork and accountability through promoting an inclusive, respectful and engaging work environment
  • Tests, champions, understands and communicates changes in workflow and best practices to improve efficiency
  • Conducts intentional regular rounding and audits in all clinical and ancillary departments to support adoption with immediate education as needed
  • Approaches tasks and problem solving through collaborative efforts with stakeholders- developing and coaching clinical staff.
  • Must demonstrate ability to work independently and with the concurrence of the department team in achieving overall department goals
  • Understands quality/service measures and goals relating to staff and provider performance in order to support remediation and improvement efforts
  • Assists with translating population health and quality program requirements into operational workflows and communication efforts to staff and providers in collaboration with quality department resources.
  • Participates in monitoring quality measure data and validation in collaboration with practice management to ensure accurate and complete documentation.
  • Auditing user performance using reports or manual chart review to maintain competency levels
  • Provide one-on-one training
  • Lead and organize group training classes
  • Develops training schedules and plans according to departmental and system policies.
  • Identify existing or develop new educational materials that can assist clinical staff in understanding how best to utilize the Expanse system
  • Responsible for EMR application training, implementation support, and the post-go-live optimization process for clinical staff across the Medical Group.
  • Responsible for associated administration duties including, but not limited to securing room location and equipment, keeping records of attendance, confidentiality agreements, competency exercises, and providing feedback to Supervisors, Managers and Directors
  • Available as a resource for questions from end users and project teams
  • Assist Nurse Educator with MA onboarding including post onboarding new staff follow up with manager and preceptor.
  • Development of MA specific education under the direction of the RN Educator.
