About The Position

CGC Inc. is a leading marketer, manufacturer and distributor of gypsum wallboard products, interior finishing material and suspended acoustical ceilings. With locations around the world, CGC and USG have the resources, plants, products, and people to build walls, ceilings, and careers. CGC Inc. is currently recruiting a Quality Operator for our plant in Wheatland County, Alberta.

Requirements

  • Able to work in a manufacturing lab environment.
  • Demonstrable skill to work within a team and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Able to creatively solve problems with an emphasis on safety within a process driven work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the production process to ensure consistency of procedures.
  • Perform accurate product testing as outlined in departmental procedure manuals, including raw material, finished goods testing, and continuous processing.
  • Handle receiving market deviations, conducting necessary inspections and investigations.
  • Document variations from standards and maintain records of inspections and non-conforming materials.
  • Proactively improve processes and procedures to enhance efficiency.
  • Recognize and react to adverse trends, non-conforming material, or poor product performance.
  • Act as a liaison to coordinate and resolve complaints and concerns related to quality performance, investigations, system audits, and corrective actions.
  • Assist in operating and auditing CGC Model Programs, Safety Rules, VWIs/JSAs, and Standard Operating Procedures, as required.
  • Maintain a document and sample control database.
  • Embody core values such as safety, integrity, efficiency, and innovation, demonstrating creativity in problem-solving.
  • Accountable for updating LEAN metrics and supporting continuous improvement efforts by using Lean Six Sigma methods to make processes more efficient and reduce waste.
  • Participate in projects and other tasks as assigned, including continuous improvement and housekeeping.
