About The Position

Shure is seeking a Quality Metrology Engineer II to develop dimensional measurement strategies, technologies, and standards that help engineers and suppliers turn complex designs into high-quality products. The role works with Engineering, Supplier Quality, global laboratories, and technical leaders to develop and standardize advanced measurement methods, assess metrology technologies and equipment, improve inspection capabilities, and resolve challenging dimensional measurement problems. The engineer applies knowledge of GD&T, measurement uncertainty, CMMs, and precision measurement while helping build metrology capabilities for current products and future designs. The position is hybrid and based at Shure’s headquarters in Niles, Illinois, with approximately 10% global travel to Shure sites, suppliers, and conferences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge and experience applying design standards, including ASME Y14.5, ISO, and other national, international, and industrial standards.
  • General knowledge of dimensional metrology and/or an applied technology in that field.
  • Ability to interpret, execute, and program measurement methods for 1D, 2D, and 3D applications using contact and non-contact computer-controlled CMMs.
  • Understanding of measurement applications, sampling effects, and weighted distribution effects on measurement algorithms.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts; experience training or mentoring engineers in applying ASME Y14.5.1 concepts is cited.
  • Experience using and specifying precision measurement equipment in a metrology environment.
  • Experience developing or applying standards, managing projects with cross-functional teams that include customers and/or suppliers, and technically writing specifications and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work effectively on a team and independently analyze and implement solutions.
  • Willingness and ability to travel globally approximately 10% throughout the year.
