About The Position

The Quality Materials Technician works in conjunction with the Quality Manager and Quality Team to assist in the production of consistent quality product within a manufacturing environment. This position will primarily oversee the department day-to-day and support other departments within manufacturing as needed. There are opportunities within the team to be the point person for calibration and for ISO document control.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs. and move materials using handling equipment.
  • Ability to perform physical activities including standing, bending, stooping, twisting, crouching, squatting, kneeling, climbing, and reaching at all levels.
  • Strong commitment to quality, customer service, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to analyze technical information and identify root causes of quality issues.
  • Strong organizational skills, personal accountability, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including all shifts and weekends.
  • Knowledge of inspection methods, measurement techniques, and quality inspection equipment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SAP, and manufacturing-related equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating industrial equipment and material handling devices preferred.
  • Strong visual acuity and attention to detail
  • 5 years Manufacturing experience or 2 years of previous Quality Materials Technician experience
  • Prior experience with SPC
  • Technical degree or further education
  • Demonstrated effective communication with others, influencing skills and decision-making ability.
  • Performing first article, in-process, and final inspections
  • Inspection techniques, e.g., dial calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, etc.
  • Use and interpretation of statistical sampling plans
  • Strong familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 or other quality system requirements

Responsibilities

  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of raw materials, products, and manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain quality records and enter inspection, testing, and release data into SAP and other quality systems.
  • Operate, program, calibrate, maintain, and coordinate repair of inspection and testing equipment.
  • Conduct gauge R&R studies and support statistical process control (SPC) activities.
  • Perform internal quality audits, support ISO 9001 compliance, and assist with quality system improvements.
  • Identify, document, and communicate nonconformities; support containment, material review boards (MRBs), and corrective actions.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and verify the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain controlled quality documentation, including procedures, drawings, work instructions, and specifications.
  • Support new product introductions, RFQ activities, inventory controls, cycle counts, and quality hold management.
  • Serve as a quality resource to production, engineering, and operations teams, and provide backup support to Quality Engineers and Managers as needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement, problem-solving, and 5S initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, health, environmental, PPE, attendance, and housekeeping requirements.
  • Train and assist team members and perform other duties as assigned.
