About The Position

The Quality Manager is responsible for overseeing all quality assurance activities within the plant. This role involves liaising with customers, coordinating with internal departments, and ensuring that production meets consistent quality levels. The Quality Manager will also manage the disposition of quarantined goods, monitor scrap and rework, and handle customer concerns. A key aspect of this role is ensuring the business system is established, implemented, and maintained in accordance with ISO9001/IATF 16949 standards, corporate, and customer-specific requirements. The position also involves ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies, preparing reports, and participating in various management and production meetings. Leadership responsibilities include managing department performance, coaching employees, participating in recruitment, identifying training needs, and preparing departmental budgets. The role also emphasizes promoting Kaizen principles and continuous improvement efforts.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of PPAP requirements.
  • Understanding of ISO9001/IATF 16949 standards.
  • Familiarity with health and safety rules and housekeeping principles.
  • Experience in preparing reports and key measurable indicators.
  • Ability to conduct corrective actions and report information in management review meetings.
  • Experience attending management report-out meetings, Production and Fast Response Meetings.
  • Experience heading layered process audits (LPA).
  • Experience conducting department start-up meetings.
  • Skills in providing oversight, direction, and delegating responsibilities.
  • Experience in managing performance, communicating job expectations, and conducting employee evaluations.
  • Ability to coach, counsel, mentor, and discipline employees.
  • Experience working with human resources to interview and select candidates.
  • Ability to determine employee development and/or training needs.
  • Experience preparing annual training plans.
  • Ability to complete training effectiveness evaluation forms.
  • Experience participating in succession planning activities.
  • Ability to assist with job analysis.
  • Experience preparing departmental budgets.
  • Knowledge of departmental and general procedures.
  • Adherence to all company safety rules, responsibilities, policies, and procedures including legislative requirements of the OHSA.
  • Adoption, practice, and promotion of Kaizen principles.
  • Participation in Kaizen and GEAR activities.
  • Encouragement of continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ability to ensure submission of individual and team GEARs.
  • Ability to appropriately handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
  • Understanding and agreement to observe the Multimatic Environmental Policy.
  • Willingness to immediately contact a manager if a condition that may adversely impact the environment is observed, created, or contributed to.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with customers and coordinate with staff and internal departments to effectively meet PPAP requirements for new product introductions and subsequent revisions of engineering changes.
  • Direct quality staff to effectively monitor production to consistent required quality levels.
  • Monitor and assist in the dispositioning of quarantined goods, with the goal of maintaining zero inventory in these areas.
  • Keep management informed of quality product and liaison with all plant departments and customers.
  • Monitor plant scrap and rework, customer rejections and returns.
  • Issue a customer/concern report to the MDS team in the event of receiving a customer concern (verbal or electronic).
  • Stop further processing and inform the area supervisor or manager responsible when becoming aware that a product or process is in non-conformance.
  • Ensure the business system is established, implemented, and maintained in accordance with the current ISO9001/IATF 16949 standards, corporate and customer specific requirements.
  • Ensure compliance to all health and safety rules and housekeeping principles.
  • Ensure substandard conditions and practices identified in plant safety audits are corrected.
  • Prepare reports and key measurable indicators each month.
  • Carry out corrective actions if necessary and report information out in a monthly management review meeting.
  • Attend management report-out meeting on a weekly basis; Production and Fast Response Meetings on a daily basis.
  • Head the layered process audits (LPA) process and assure compliance as required.
  • Conduct department start-up meetings on a daily basis.
  • Provide oversight and direction and delegate responsibilities to all members in the department.
  • Manage performance: communicate job expectations and conduct employee evaluations for all department members on an end of probation basis and an annual basis.
  • Coach, counsel, mentor and discipline employees with the assistance of human resources and senior management as necessary.
  • Work with human resources to interview and select candidates to fill vacancies within the department.
  • Determine employee development and/or training needs for department members on an annual basis.
  • Prepare annual training plan and submit to the human resources department.
  • Complete training effectiveness evaluation forms and submit to the human resources department.
  • Participate in succession planning activities including career development.
  • Assist with job analysis on a yearly basis.
  • Prepare departmental budget on an annual basis.
  • Follow all departmental and general procedures where applicable.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager.
  • Abide by all company safety rules, responsibilities, policies, and procedures including the legislative requirements of the OHSA.
  • Adopt, practice, and promote Kaizen principles; participate in Kaizen and GEAR activities.
  • Encourage continuous improvement efforts within the department and ensure submission of individual and team GEARs to achieve one hundred percent participation.
  • Appropriately handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Observe the Multimatic Environmental Policy and agree to immediately contact a manager at Multimatic if any condition that may adversely impact the environment is observed, created, or contributed to.
