Quality Manager – Rotary Drilling Division Location: Alachua, Florida, USA About Sandvik At Sandvik, we are shaping the future of engineering. Our Rotary Drilling Division in Alachua, Florida designs and assembles advanced surface mining drill rigs used across the globe. Your Mission As Quality Manager, you will lead and evolve the quality function for our rotary blasthole drill assembly operation, reporting to the VP Supply Chain & Operations. You’ll play a key leadership role in strengthening product quality, driving operational excellence, and building a high-performing quality organization. This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role with direct influence on product reliability, supplier partnerships, and customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or similar)
- 8+ years of experience in manufacturing quality within heavy equipment, automotive, or industrial environments
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing quality teams
- Strong experience with complex mechanical assemblies, hydraulics, electrical systems, and structural weldments
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional problem solving and deliver measurable improvements
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship on an indefinite basis

- Master’s degree in Engineering or Business
- ASQ certifications (CQE, CQM)
- Six Sigma certification
- Data-driven decision making (Excel, Power BI or similar tools)
- Root cause analysis methodologies (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone)
- Metrology and inspection systems
- Knowledge of welding standards (AWS/ASME)
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of quality professionals, building capability, ownership, and engagement
- Drive quality performance across incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities
- Strengthen supplier quality through qualification, performance management, and corrective actions
- Lead structured problem-solving initiatives (8D, root cause analysis) to reduce defects and cost of poor quality
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and Sandvik’s Quality Management System
- Partner closely with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain to improve process capability and product performance
- Monitor and act on key metrics such as FPY, COPQ, supplier PPM, rework, and warranty trends
- Support quality standards across fabrication, welding, machining, and final assembly.
