About The Position

The Quality Manager leads quality performance, quality systems, customer compliance, and team development at Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense Company’s Moorpark, California facility. The role has site-level responsibility across quality systems, manufacturing quality, customer quality, corrective action, compliance, and the quality organization. The manager partners with Operations and cross-functional teams to embed quality into daily execution, production readiness, customer commitments, and long-term operating discipline in a complex, regulated aerospace and defense manufacturing environment.

The position combines strategic quality leadership with hands-on floor-level execution. The manager strengthens the site’s quality management system, supports compliance with AS9100 and customer requirements, drives containment and structured problem solving, improves manufacturing quality, and represents the site in customer-facing quality matters. The role also develops a high-performing team and supports the site’s growth and increasing production complexity.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Significant quality leadership experience in manufacturing.
• Strong working knowledge of AS9100 and customer quality requirements.
• Demonstrated experience with manufacturing quality, root cause analysis, corrective action, containment, and quality-system improvement.
• Experience leading, coaching, and developing quality professionals.
• Ability to work effectively at both the strategic and hands-on execution levels.
• Strong customer-facing communication skills and credibility.
• Proven ability to influence cross-functionally across Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Production, and Program Management.

Nice To Haves

• A degree in Engineering, Quality, Operations, or a related technical field is preferred.
• Aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience in a rapidly scaling or complex production environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the site quality organization and own quality performance, compliance, and execution.
• Set expectations, priorities, accountability, and operating rhythms across the quality team.
• Resolve floor-level issues while advancing broader site priorities and quality-system improvements.
• Partner with Operations leadership to support Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost objectives.
• Maintain and strengthen the site quality management system in alignment with AS9100, customer requirements, and applicable aerospace and defense standards.
• Ensure adherence to internal procedures, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
• Support audits, customer reviews, compliance activities, and quality-system improvement initiatives.
• Identify systemic risks and lead actions to improve process capability, discipline, and predictability.
• Lead containment, root cause analysis, corrective action, and preventive action for manufacturing quality issues.
• Use data, facts, and cross-functional engagement to drive structured problem solving.
• Partner with Production, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Program Management to resolve quality issues.
• Improve first-pass yield, reduce escapes, strengthen defect prevention, and support production readiness.
• Represent the site credibly in customer-facing quality matters.
• Lead communication and resolution for customer concerns, nonconformances, corrective actions, and quality performance issues.
• Build working relationships and influence outcomes across Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Production, and Program teams.
• Coach, develop, and hold the quality team accountable for performance, discipline, and continuous improvement.
• Build team capability, succession depth, and engagement; develop quality leaders and individual contributors.
• Create a culture of ownership, urgency, transparency, and continuous learning.
